Up until recently I was using Yaata, but since getting the OnePlus 6T I no longer use it due to MMS not downloading. Mood messenger suffers same ailment. I don't understand how the two apps with the most customization don't work with MMS, yet every other app I've tried works. Now I'm using Pulse and it's a pretty good alternative.

Nice! But one very good chat messenger app launched just few days ago and its name is WaahChat. Specially targeted for Indians but can be downloaded globally. It is very secure and privacy concern. Download link is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shinewebs.waahchat

I use Handcent Next SMS App.. Btw, is there any messaging App that allows merging of sms from the same person/company but with a different sender id? For example, in India, HDFC is one of the biggest Private Bank.. When they send SMS, they send with different Sender ID or name like "VK-HDFCBK", "VM-HDFCBK", etc.. I want to merge these two senders into a single entity so that i can keep all my HDFC sms under a single name.. Which sms app provides this facility? I have been searching for many months but I am not any app that provides this facility…

Textra is prob the best sms app if you just message from your phone. But Pulse is just about as good, and has the iMessage-like feature of your messages being synced in the cloud and allowing you to message from any platform from your number. Actually Pulse is better than iMessage in one respect: you don't have to have a Mac, you can use Windows or Linux, can even send messages in iOS via a webpage in Safari.

Hey iphone user here but im looking to switch to the OnePlus 6 and I'm pretty confused on the whole messaging thing. What's the big differences between iMessage and these apps? Can I still text through LTE instead of wifi? Thanks

10 year iPhone user and I finally made the switch to the Note 9 which I love the phone but hate the software.

The text applications are terrible. With apple I can start typing someones name and not only does their name pop up but any groups they are in. Since I do a lot of group texting with the groups broken up and varying six ways from sunday this is a HUGE feature. I haven't seen anything on android that does such a simple thing.

Some apps are atrocious. Like Samsung messenger, I start to type someone's name and then select them, it leaves the partial name in the search box. I have to select to get back into the search box, hit the X to cleaer out the characters to start searching for another name. That's FNG insane!!!!

Verizon app was the best one I tried(still didn't do the group thing like iOS) but at least adding several people to a group text wasn't cumbersome. However the app locked up for 15 to 30 seconds constantly. Samsung claims that's a hardware issue(the Note 8 had one for apps that accessed the contacts folder, they would lock up with that issue) So I am going to try the Note 9 again and see if it really was a hardware issue, but if the texting app is unusable then I will have to go back to apple as sick as I am of their hardware that hasn't really changed except in size for 10 years.

iOS apps are so far advanced but I am willing to put up with loss of features on most apps, but I can't have a shitty or constantly crashing texting app.

right now I'm using the Android messenger app in the one thing I don't like about it is that when you look at your list of current texts it doesn't explicitly show you which ones you've already viewed
