Chances are you might be on your smartphone right now…watching YouTube. But how does your phones battery cope with YouTube? We’ve taken the best smart phones and tested how long they last with YouTube videos running continuously.

Taking the phones you picked from our previous battery test we have the iPhone 6S Plus, Galaxy S7 Edge, HTC 10, LG G5, Nexus 6P and the OnePlus 3.

1. All phones on full brightness
2. All phones connected to same Wi-Fi
3. Battery saving wasn’t meddled with out of the box – if it was automatic, it would have turned on, if not then left manual
4. No other background apps open – from restart
5. All as old as the phones are – so iPhone 6S Plus is the oldest. But all are review devices, so all have been used a roughly as long as each other.
6. Wifi turned on.

Keep your suggestions coming for future smartphone tests!

In the real world my LG G5 has terrible battery results..

I have three batteries and I usually burn through all of them in a typical day.

The biggest flaw with this test is screen brightness at max. That will immediately put the non amoleds at a disadvantage.

How many watch videos at max brightness?

Ips is more efficient at a lower brightness. Around 30%-50%.

Use a light meter and set all to the same brightness say 200 or, 300 nits.

How much of a difference is there now?

Not an accurate review. Lighting for each phone is not the same. Some will be brighter than others when set to the same light settings. Therefore some phones will drain more because it's brighter than the others. Why set them all at max or minimum when some will still be brighter and the battery advantage goes to the dimmer ones using less power? You need a tool that measures the lighting for each phone for a more accurate review. Some of the phones here aren't capable of as much brightness and are doing better due to a crappier display needing less power.
