Thanks for this very helpful video! I love the suggestion of building a small backdrop for use. However, I was hoping you could tell us a bit about copyright issues when staging lifestyle photographs. Are there any issues for including furniture, decorative objects, clothing, etc. that belong to other brands? Right now, I am creating my own gift wrap for staging a picture simply because I am worried about copyright issues, but maybe this is not necessary!?

They are great tips for people who live in spacious homes with lots of windows, but it doesn't offer much for apartment dwellers who have to make do with a corner of the back bedroom/office and nearly no available light due to small windows. 🙁

I don't have the first two options for photographs in natural light. The third option is to open your front door. I live in Minnesota where it is freezing weather or below zero, so that does not work too. I do not have big picture windows as well. Any other suggestions?

Great info – my biggest problem is background shadows from my product in natural light – still don't know how to deal with eliminating that.

Missed two important things – shoot in manual mode as you get better control and don't think you need a big hefty dSLR with extra lenses to take great shots! I have a 6 year old Canon SX10is – it's a 10 megapixel point 'n' shoot and it still takes gorgeous photos.

This is super cool! I love A Beautiful Mess and I was excited to see them working with Etsy. I use a Canon t1i for my product shots but I'm considering upgrading to the 80D eventually.
