Actually the fingerprint is a button. Got this for my mom and i tried it for a week. It has the gestures too so the fingerprint is more like a track pad.

I agree with the author of video. It's probably the best budget smartphone and I had to pick one up and use it as a backup from and I also use it to hook up to my computer via USB cable and run an app called Easytether that allows me to get internet access on my latop through my phone bypassing the cell companies cap on hotSpot/Tethering limit of data or 10gb on T-Mobile. So it's handy even if you pick it up to use for a moden for your older laptop tops or if you have a slow home internet line. Just my 2 cents…

You don't have to press the power button to wake the phone it will unlock by simply putting your finger on the sensor as long as it's activated

I bought this phone not expecting much at all but it is the best phone for the price hands down. Anything you find wrong with is nitpicking plain and simple

I bought a Moto G4 Play in Jan. '17. It also has 2 GB of RAM, an almost-pure installation of Android 6 (no bloatware, but also no upgrade yet), and decent performance. It works well as a basic smartphone and pocketable internet appliance. I was looking at getting this Moto E4 for family members so they could have a good cell. Nice thing about these unlocked smartphones is that you can subscribe to a dirt-cheap cell service like Tracfone or StraightTalk and get cheap mobile access on a decently functional smartphone. The alternative is getting an ancient junk phone from a cable shopping channel or one of those budget phone sites and finding out it barely works.

Bought mine at Best Buy unlocked for $130 and i dont regret it. It allows to expand the memory upto 128 GB with a micro sd card wich i also bought at Best Buy on sale for $30.00 Its an ultra high speed micro sd card wich i recomend & it works fast and flawless. I downloaded tons of music and videos without any problem. It also has great sound and battery life with fast charging, using a motorola fast charger of course. And the removable battery is also a plus.I truly recomend this little marvel 100% so go and grab one. You will not regret it as well and will save a lot of money.

if you take your phone onto a big boat & put a Flag up on it, or even carry Flags on it … Thats all you need to have a Flagship really. – WHY cant we get GREAT features & build quality in a 5"display. Impossible to find it seems.

you only have to use the power button on the amazon ad-supported model, because android's default behavior is to skip the lockscreen when waking with the fingerprint sensor.

the ordinary version will go directly to the homescreen when you touch the fingerprint reader.

1:51 fingerprint scanner. I have the Verizon moto E 4 and you do not have to wake the phone by pressing the power button below the rocker to then use the scanner to unlock the device. it works even if the screen is idle or blacked out it just takes a tap to get into your home screen not a tap and hold, that's how you lock the device.

This thing is pretty nice. I like to play emulators, and this does them wonderfully. I had NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, PS1, even N64 ran well. (Albeit it was a bit tricky since said emulation is difficult to accomplish)

I'm buying the fully unlocked version along with my Verizon model. (Since it unfortunately broke after getting a little too friendly with drop tests on the Otterbox case) Now I'll have a 2nd battery for this device.

Can it run Google Maps, Google Play AND Facebook Messenger at the same time? If so, how taxing is it? (Thanks for the detailed review!)

Hey 👋 I'm not sure if you remember me but im the person who commented on you're Kyocera Hydro Wave video (about if it has HDMI and stuff LOL)….
Well I have that phone now but I think it's time for a upgrade. It's currently not working (many errors, can't take pics, resets on its own etc) and I'm going to highschool soon and I NEED a new phone since my parents will need contact with me.

Do you recommend that I should upgrade my Kyocera Hydro Wave to the Moto e4?

setup Moto actions and you wont need the power button at all, neither the home key. Those drawbacks you mentioned at 1:50 mark are not drawbacks at all.

Great video and review! Walmart has the Verizon Prepaid Moto E4 for $39. If you search Youtube, you can find videos that show you how to get rid of the Amazon ads, if you have that model and the ads bother you. Youtuber J Williams bought an unlock code on ebay for $2.29 to unlock his Verizon version, to use on T-Mobile on LTE Band 4, which also works on AT&T. This phone is the budget bargain of 2017!

The fingerprint sensor is a deal breaker for me 🙁
It should unlock the phone right from idle. I hate the fact that I have to press the power button to make it work. This extra step is killing the experience for me.

On the Verizon version, i can unlock the phone from the fingerprint scanner, and in the Moto settings you can use the fingerprint scanner as a one button nav..i love that.
