    Better than most I've seen on the topic, but 1) you need to clean the flux off the solder joint once it cools (use acetone), 2) those old solder guns are horrid to use. There are far better options.

    Tinfoil makes a good protector for anything you are soldering over too. you can lay it down or crumple or fold it into different spaces you may be soldering in. The solder will cool before it will burn anything below the foil.

    Ummmm…no. You didn’t even clean the cooked flux off the wire, ends of the insulation are melted, the wires are not sliced together neatly or evenly, this is not correct what so ever. Also the western union splice is used where strength is important, the mesh splice is used where a smaller size is more important.
