Either Satya is taking a REALLY long time, or Windows Phone is dead, buried and decaying.

Mind you, I'd love to see the platform resurrected.

I think they are coming back to phones with Windows 10 S and Windows on ARM with x86 emulation. The last Snapdragon 10xx is as fast as an Atom X5/X7, which is equipped in a lot of Windows 10 x86 tablets. Now with the improving Windows Store, with UWP and Desktop Bridge (the new way to port desktops apps to the store). On the other hand, they finally ported the phone support to normal Windows. So my guess is that the rumored Surface Phone will have full fledged Windows 10 (not Mobile), probably the S version (which you can turn into the normal version), and with x86 support, or at least emulation. Continium will be a natural part of the phone. Then, when the hardware improves and get cheaper, they will launch cheaper phones that can run full Windows 10 like the first Surface Phone. And Windows will be again in the mobile market, with something neither Android nor iOS could compete (at least they do something useful with ChromeOS, which I doubt; and Apple seems to be going the other way around that Microsoft, trying to port they phone OS to bigger devices each time)

May I say… My Redmi Note 3 had an inflated battery, and as it was already damaged, it was not worth repairing it. I am using a Lumia 535 and other than the app-gap, missing SMS and Contacts bug and a Touch problem when charging… It works. I can use it. In 1Gb of ram I can keep tons of apps, with just some reloading. I've downloaded lots of heavy apps with only 8Gb of Memory… I never thought that I could survive with that

Martin, I hope you are correct that MS will return to mobile. I really liked Windows Phone 8 , 10. It was a great platform and I was planning to buy a 950 when the news came that MS was not going to support Windows Phone any longer and I abandoned the platform. We really need more than two big players in the smartphone space and I'd happily come back to Windows Phone. I am still looking forward to convergence but it may be that in the future that space will belong to Android.

Steve Balmer is a saleman. Not a visionary. That's why he just laughed at the iPhone back in 2007, because he didn't see it's potential.

Microsoft at its soft part is gaining exponential growth in cloud services known as Azure. And so it's whole attention is centered toward it.

Hey TechAltar, what do you think about the New Nokia by HMD Global… Based on some stats they are pretty much stock Android and have made the top 5 smart phone makers… Could you do a video on the analysis of Nokia's return to the market and their forseable future?

Yeap. 'Universal' is the way to go! With DotNetCore,MS is gonna create a crack in Android,IOS!!!! You can now create an app for Android,IOS and Windows phone with the same code in C# using Xamarin!! All native!! Code once, run everywhere….That is 'cool'….!

You are demented to say that a phone can replace a PC. A PC is used because of power dissipation and power supply issues, being able to plug a load of stuff in at once, and having a big screen attached to it. Also, the internals are very accessible so modules can be fixed/replaced/upgraded by non-specialists. You ain't gonna get that in a phone, bro.

I loved my windows phone, but MS fucked up big time. Terrible apps. Poor support. Poor compatibility. Awful bugs. How the fuck can one of the biggest companies in the world release such garbage? People are getting paid millions and still fucking up big time. Nokia phones were actually some of the best if MS wasn't shit.

Worst of all is the public's loss of trust in MS.

First of all: Windows-Phone is now dead
Second: I think it'll be the other way around, Android or Chrome will become better and more suitable for desktop use, so there will maybe be something like Continuum from Google (I really hope) and more users will just use their phone to do most tasks

here si the funny thing. even if MS fails on this phone thing. You will still have majority of true world wide earning take place on MS platforms. Phones are just another area for MS, so even if it looses it, it'll be like MS realizing it can't build cars. "sux cause that would of been cool, but guess what. We still own the world…"
