▬ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ▬
Chamberlain MyQ Review 2018 (Best WiFi Garage Door Opener?!). In this video, Matt covers what you need to know about the smart Chamberlain garage door opener. These garage door openers are equipped with MyQ technology so you can check status or open and close your door remotely. The MyQ openers also work with Google Assistant, IFTTT and Apple HomeKit (need Home Bridge) as well. They also come with a backup battery and are HomeLink compatible. On the downside, installation might be an issue and some of the smart home partnerships require a monthly fee. Overall, we really like this garage door opener. We’ll see if it lands on the list for Best Smart Garage Door Opener. Thanks for watching.

Not much help with the actual installation! Tried to get help from chamberlain….FORGET IT! They are useless…and dont give a shit about helping you. Took them a good 20 minutes to realize they dont even have a DIY video for their model 205 opener. Taking mine back to H.D. and getting a Ryobi opener!

I love the idea of controlling my garage door (already enabled with MyQ) from my phone, but YIKES! that sound warning/beeping sound that comes from the hub is a deal-breaker for me (and for my neighbors as well, I bet!)! Is there any way to disable that?!

"It took him about 20 minutes to install it. It would probably take me 4 or 5 hours." -totally agree (took me 8!) but kinda fun. Not like plumbing.
Since the Chamberlain can be closed I’m 1-5-10 minutes, I pretty much didn’t need anything else the "smart" app offered.

Monthly/Annual fee? No thank you. Sure, it's only $1 a month or $10 a year right now… but this is not a business model I advocate for supporting. That price can and will be raised in the future. Also if it requires connection to their servers you'll be at the mercy of the company if they raise that price OR go out of business. I'd rather buy a raspberry pi zero and use that to open my garage door.

If you are an Android or Alexa user do not buy this trash. The app will not allow you to open the garage door, only close it. Some bullshit about voice security concerns.

He was correct on every point, I own Chamberlain MyQ with a battery backup. I replace the old garage door open, It wasn't pleasant but I saved $200 for four hours work. It would be nice if Chamberlain offer a screwdriver garage door opener. Personally I dislike the idea my Internet connecting to my garage door open an easy way into my house, that feature was never connected.

Bought this opener yesterday. I have a 8’ door so I also purchased the extension kit with longer belt. It took 2.5 hours to put the model together and take the junk Craftsmen chain drive unit down. Did not have to run wire to sensors or back door panel since I used the same sensor wiring. Just plug and play and adjust the up an down. Extremely quiet and handy to open the door or see if it’s opened/closed remotely on iPhone or iPad. Total price I paid was $325 including extension kit

Ive had this for years with the $$$ smartbridge. Has worked great for many years. Enen added some of the lamp modules and light switches. Now I'm also running Smartthings but the two are not compatible. No linking with a very open platform like Smartthings is crap. Even if you could link them they would charge a monthy fee? Who would pay monthy to link thete garage door app?

You’re always forgetting to close your garage door? When some steals everything in your garage, you’ll never forget again.

Liftmaster is the best brand out there even tho is owned by Chamberlain Group. Chamberlain is good but the parts are very cheap. Liftmaster is more of a luxury and better quality. DO NOT BUY GENIE OR RYOBIE TRASH! FYI I have
    10 years of experience.

What about if I don’t have a Wi-Fi enabled lift master garage door opener? Is it still possible to buy the hub and make it pair with the garage door opener so I can use Siri to operate it?

Pretty ridiculous that you have to have a separate device for it to work with HomeKit… If it's already WiFi enabled it should just work… Shouldn't it @AppleInc.?
