Windows Mobile was an incredible platform for a number of years and competed well against the iPhone and Android flagship devices. Today we’ll take a look at the last flagship smartphone from Windows Phone 10: the HP Elite X3. Not only that, but I’m going to use Windows Phone for a week.

I actually think they stopped a bit too soon, didn't give it enough time. You go back and try to use any of the old android OSs and they are horrible, it took them a long time to get where they are. In comparison these Windows OS phones held up pretty well albeit with a lack of support which I think would have eventually come. I genuinely think that now with the cross-platform and Universal Windows apps it would beat the shit out of both of them given time. I guess it's a lost cause.

I adopted windows phone for a while and I liked it although yeah it was missing a few things, but at the time I wasn't crazy into phones so I lived without those features since I could get those things on my laptop when I got home. Imagine now though: not having to make those sacrifices and go back to the days where Nokia had cameras on their phones that beat even those of today and a slicker Universal experience. It would shine with the upcoming Xbox cloud functionality and seriously could bolster their position and reason for being a fully fledged OS.

Maybe if Windows 11 (or whatever it will be called) releases it truly will be a Universal OS, lightweight and heavy on features, able to bring back life to some of these old but monstrous powerhouses even if just as a thank you for early followers of their mobile debut. One can only hope because we need a little more competition between the two that with their flair for trickery and wordplay are consistently taking away from their phones yet making it sound like they're adding more.

    Just me?

Windows, on both mobile and PC, has become so backwards over the years. Terribly bloated and messy software, like Windows, Outlook, Hotmail, Live, OneDrive and your contacts in there, apps and features on the other hand are incredibly confusing, troublesome and sparse.

I had several Windows phones and they were awesome. The maps worked a dream and the whole OS was great. I hate windows on PC and have switched to Chrome OS and it is a lot better. Good memories of windows phone. I am now looking to swap to KaiOS and try that out as I get annoyed with battery life of the newer phones, they barely last a day.

Is it even possible to flash Android onto devices like these or are the processors the limiting factor?

I bought Microsoft 532 back in 2015, had to trash it in 2016 mid courtesy lack of apps and unable to download apps down the road and already downloaded apps showing lags and showing signs of death. Frankly……….I still liked it. The tiles were cool (kinda romantic). Google killed it.
